I would like to take a minute to make my intentions as transparent as possible about this project. This forum is only meant to be a tool for the community, to be grown and maintained by the community. I am not, in any way, wishing to take anything away from any other resource. We have far too few resources as it is. I only wanted to build onto the community - to provide a resource that the everyone could easily use, and to provide a reliable method to expand upon the knowledge that already exists within the community. I felt a forum such as this could be a good way to 'document' the knowledge and the experience of the many talented folks within the community and could be used to easily access that knowledge. If the community feels that this is not within its own best interest, then the forum cannot and will not survive. Only with the participation of those great folks from within the community can it become any kind of a viable resource. I only hope that any participation in this forum should not detract from any other resource. That was not my intention in any way.
As I have said, we have far too few resources, and endangering any one of those is not what I intended. Please understand I only wish to promote the community as a whole by providing a framework on which the community can build. If a better method of documentation can, and will be developed, then I will whole-heartedly get behind such an effort, and abandon this project. It's up to the community itself whether or not this is something that is needed. Some good feedback from several interested individuals have led me to believe that this, in fact, is a needed resource. But not everyone feels that way. I did not consult the community as a whole before I began building the forum. In my zeal to try to give back to the community that has given a lot to me, I probably 'jumped the gun' when I should have sought to ascertain the real needs and wants of the community as a whole, and I should have asked for the support and organization from the community. For that, I am truly sorry. But I do believe this project can co-exist with every other resource, if the people really want it to succeed. It should not succeed by taking anything away from other resources as long as the people choose to make that possible. If the community as a whole does not wish to support it, then it cannot and will not continue to exist. Only the people of the IOS Music community can make it become a useful resource.
Thank you
jeff
